Ed took over ownership of Associated Building Inspections, Inc. in August of 2017. He has an Associates Degree in Architectural Engineering from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology and a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from Temple University. Ed is certified in building, plumbing, mechanical, energy and electrical for both residential and commercial. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine and was honorably discharged as a decorated Sergeant of Marines. A highlight of his service was performing duties as Forward Operating Base Air Chief in Iraq.
Randy Maurer – Plans Examiner – Master Code Official
Randy, ABI’s founder, started ABI in 1994 out of his home office. Randy holds an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State. Randy holds 37 certifications from the International Code Council, including Certified Fire Marshal and has over 38 years experience in the code enforcement industry. Randy is an active Amateur Radio Operator call sign WA3HLP, is active in the Military Auxiliary Radio System, and is the founder of Middle Creek Search & Rescue.
Torri Esch – Office Manager/Building Code Official
Torri has the important job of overseeing the internal operations of ABI. She has an Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies and has over 20 years of bookkeeping and administrative experience.
Ken Dranchek – Lead Plans Examiner/ Construction Code Official
Ken is our resident Architect and Lead Plans Examiner. He has over 30 years’ experience as a Licensed Architect and Building Code Official. Ken conducts plans reviews and inspections for commercial projects and specializes in Means of Egress and Accessibility. He enjoys swimming and working out at the gym and spending time with his son and daughter-in-law.
Sal’s primary role at ABI is as a commercial plans examiner. Sal has a Master’s Degree in Architectural Engineering from the University of Palermo in Italy. and worked as an architect in Italy until he moved to the United States in 2016.
Greg is professor emeritus from Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, where he taught plumbing and heating, construction codes, OSHA, as well as math. He received his BA from Lebanon Valley College and his Master’s Equivalency through Temple University. He enjoys spending time with his family and traveling.
Glen has moved back to the Lancaster area and joined ABI again. He has several years of electrical inspections background and will pick up where he left off. We are thrilled to have Glen back!
Raymond (Ray) Buckwalter – Electrical Plans Examiner/ Electrical Inspector
Ray worked at New Holland Agriculture plant in New Holland for 17 years with automation installations and maintenance. For the next 23 years Ray instructed students in Electrical Technology at Thaddeus Stevens College. After retiring from teaching Electrical technology at Thaddeus Stevens College, Ray continues to help others learn the electrical trade.
Entering our office, you will find Sharon to greet you with a smile and provide you with the very best customer service! Sharon also provides administrative support with our internal operations team and you will also see her time-to-time as one of our municipal curriers!
Brian Ziegler – Building Code Official/Commercial & Residential Inspector and Plans Examiner
Brian has over 10 years experience in the construction industry, as well as owning his own construction company, before coming onto ABI as a building inspector. Over the past 17 years, he has enjoyed volunteering with his local fire company and serving in an officer capacity for many of those years. In his spare time, you will find him spending it with his family, friends and hunting.
Steve Zook – BCO, MCP –Commercial Inspector and Plans Examiner
Steve has over 20 years of experience in the construction industry ranging in field work, project management and supervision, before joining the ABI Team. In his spare time, you will find him spending time with his wife, kids, hiking in the woods or paddling on a river.
Kyle has many years of construction experience, as well as owning his own electrical business for the last 10 years, before coming onto ABI as a building inspector. Kyle is very active within his local fire department as a volunteer fire fighter. In his spare time, you will find him spending it with his family and hunting!
Ronald (Ron) Maurer – Building Code Official/Residential Inspector and Plans Examiner
Ron, who was in construction most of his life, decided to hang that up to become an inspector for ABI in 1998. He is one of our Residential Inspectors and Plan Examiners. When he is not at work he may just be hunting, walking in the woods or bowling.
Matthew (Matt) White – Building Code Official/Commercial & Residential Building Inspector and Plans Examiner
Matt has over 20 years in the construction industry. Matt owned his own residential construction company for 10 years. Matt studied architecture at Thaddeus Stevens and Temple University.
Alejandro graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a degree in Philosophy and Business. He is passionate about making positive contributions to the community, which led him to pursue a career in building code enforcement. In his free time, Alejandro enjoys spending time with family, friends and music-related activities such as playing his guitar.
