The Thaddeus Stevens & Lydia Hamilton Smith Center for History and Democracy
ABI was selected for Plan Review and Code Inspection Services for The Thaddeus Stevens & Lydia Hamilton Smith Center for History and Democracy.
Opening in early 2026 in Lancaster, PA, this powerful new museum and education center will explore America’s ongoing journey toward freedom and equality—through exhibits, immersive media, and educational programs.
Located at a documented Underground Railroad site, the Center is housed in the preserved home and law office of Congressman Thaddeus Stevens and Lydia Hamilton Smith—two key figures in the fight against slavery and for civil rights. Their courageous legacy, and that of the abolitionist networks they fostered, will be brought to life through innovative storytelling and state-of-the-art design.
